About 2024 UBA Foundation National Essay Competition for Nigeria

The National Essay Competition, targeted at senior secondary students in Nigeria, is organised annually, as part of UBA Foundation’s education initiative which aims to promote the reading culture and encourage healthy and intellectual competition amongst secondary school students in Nigeria and across Africa

Organized since 2011, the competition provides a competitive platform to develop the intellectual and writing abilities of senior secondary school students.

Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the UBA Foundation Essay Competition, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a current Nigerian Senior Secondary School student.
  • Submit a passport photograph.
  • Submit a scanned copy of a valid means of identification (birth certificate, National ID, or passport).
  • Submit their essay entry before the deadline.

Competition Benefits

The UBA Foundation Essay Competition offers a substantial financial reward for the top three winners:

Winner: N7,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes

First Runner-up: N5,000,000.00 + Award + Prizes

Second Runner-up: N3,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes

This prize money will be awarded as an educational grant to support the winner’s pursuit of an undergraduate degree at any African institution of their choice.
