UNIUYO Adjusts CBT Exam Policy: What Year 1-5 Students Need to Know

The University of Uyo has announced a temporary adjustment to its Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination policy for the first semester examinations. This change affects students across all year levels and comes as the university continues upgrading ICT facilities at both Annex and Main Campuses.

New Examination Mode Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to both 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 First Semester Examinations:

CBT Mode (Computer-Based)

• Year 1 and Year 2 courses with a class size of 200 students and above

Non-CBT Mode (Paper-Based)

• Year 1 and Year 2 courses with class sizes below 200 students
• All Year 3, Year 4, and Year 5 courses, regardless of class size

For Heads of Departments

All HODs are required to:

1. Identify courses that meet CBT criteria (Year 1 & 2 with 200+ students)
2. Submit the list to the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)
3. Deadline: Tuesday, February 11, 2026

What This Means for Students

• Year 1-2 students in large classes: Prepare for CBT format - practice with computer-based tests
• Year 1-2 students in smaller classes: Expect paper-based exams
• Year 3-5 students: All your exams will be paper-based this semester

Why the Change?

The university is upgrading its ICT infrastructure at both campuses. This temporary adjustment ensures examinations can proceed smoothly while improvements are completed.

Students are advised to check with their departments for specific information about which of their courses will be CBT or non-CBT.
