ABSU First Semester Examination Postponed — 2025/2026 Academic Session
The Vice‑Chancellor and Chairman of Senate, Professor Ndukwe J. Okeudo, has approved a two‑week postponement of Abia State University's First Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 academic session. The examinations originally scheduled to commence on Monday, 27 April 2026 will now begin on Monday, 11 May 2026. (Announcement dated 17 April 2026.)
Who must note this change
Provosts, deans, directors, heads of department, lecturers and students are to take note and comply with the revised timetable.
Eligibility to sit the examinations
- Only bonafide ABSU students who have fully paid required fees and completed course registration will be eligible to write the examinations.
- The University's Senate policy requiring a minimum of 75% lecture attendance as a prerequisite for exam eligibility will be strictly enforced.
Practical steps for students (use the two extra weeks well)
- Confirm registration and fee status: check with your departmental office or the registry to ensure payments and course registrations are recorded.
- Verify attendance records: where possible, confirm your attendance percentage with course lecturers or HODs and resolve any discrepancies early.
- Create a focused revision plan: prioritise weak courses, schedule daily goals, and use past questions and lecture notes.
- Organise study resources: compile past questions, course outlines, and approved textbooks; form short study groups if helpful.
- Prepare logistics: ensure your student ID, examination seating number (if issued), and writing materials are ready; plan transport and accommodation if you commute.
- Look after your health: maintain regular sleep, hydrate, and eat balanced meals to maximise exam performance.
- Seek clarification early: contact departmental officers, student affairs, or your faculty if you have concerns about eligibility or the new timetable.
Students and staff should rely on official university channels (notice boards, faculty offices, and the university's student portal or email) for any further updates or formal timetable releases.
Be properly guided.
