NOUN extends TMA submission deadline for 2026/1 semester
Published: 27 April 2026
The Directorate of Examinations and Assessment of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has approved an extension to the Tutor-Marked Assignment (TMA) submission deadlines for the 2026/1 semester due to low participation.
New TMA deadlines (2026/1)
- 300–800 level courses: Sunday, 17 May 2026
- 100–200 level courses: Sunday, 7 June 2026
Important: Study centre directors have been directed to publicize these new dates. No further extension will be granted.
What you should do now — quick checklist
- Confirm the deadline for each of your courses with your study centre or course tutor immediately.
- PrioritiseTMAs for 300–800 level courses first if you are in those levels, since their cutoff is earlier.
- Attempt TMAs early — don’t wait until the last days. Starting early leaves time for corrections and submission issues.
- Follow assignment instructions exactly (word count, question numbers, referencing). Include your name, matriculation number, course code and tutorial number on the cover page.
- Preferred file formats: use common, readable formats (PDF is best for preserving layout). Name files clearly (e.g., MAT101_TMA1_MatricNo.pdf).
- Keep local backups of every TMA you submit (cloud and a local copy). Save timestamps or screenshots showing successful upload.
- If submission is via your study centre or an online platform, get a written or screenshot confirmation of successful upload or receipt.
- If you have difficulties, contact your study centre or course tutor as soon as possible — do not wait until the deadline day.
Practical tips to boost completion
- Break each TMA into manageable parts and set mini-deadlines (reading, drafting, referencing, final checks).
- Use past TMAs and course materials as guides for structure and expected answers.
- Work in blocks: 25–50 minute focused sessions with short breaks to maintain concentration.
- Form or join small study groups (virtual or at your study centre) for peer support and accountability.
- If you need clarification on a question, ask your tutor early and keep a record of the request and reply.
